Conclusion

The Pet Economy in North America: A Multi-Billion Dollar Industry Across Mexico, the U.S., and Canada

By Editorial Staff | LYPmultimedios

In North America —spanning Mexico, the United States, and Canada— pets are no longer just companions. They’re beloved family members and the driving force behind a booming industry. In 2024, total spending on pet care reached an estimated $159.5 billion USD, led by the U.S. with $152 billion, followed by Canada with $4.9 billion and Mexico with $2.6 billion. By 2025, the market is expected to grow to $165.6 billion, fueled by pet humanization, rising ownership rates, and the demand for premium goods and services.

Country-by-Country Breakdown

The U.S. dominates the sector, spending $66.9 billion on food and treats, $39.1 billion on veterinary care, and over $32 billion on supplies and OTC medications. Roughly 94 million American households (70%) own at least one pet.

Canada focuses on premium food and veterinary services, with $3.89 billion spent on pet nutrition alone in 2024. Roughly 38% of households own dogs and 37% own cats.

Mexico is emerging fast, with pet food making up 85% of its market. Annual growth is projected at 9.1%, with the majority of spending going to dogs, which are present in over 54% of Mexican households.

What’s Driving the Boom?

Pets as Family:

In the U.S., 97% of owners consider their pets part of the family. In Canada, this sentiment reaches 98%. In Mexico, this growing affection is evident in the rising demand for high-quality food and specialized services.

Economic Resilience:

Despite inflation, spending remains strong. In the U.S., 77% of pet owners say their expenses remain unchanged. In Canada, food spending has continued to rise. While 63% of Mexican consumers seek budget options, the premium market segment is expanding rapidly.

Younger Generations Lead:

Millennials and Gen Z are major players. In the U.S., Gen Z accounts for 20% of pet-owning households—a 43.5% increase from 2023. In Canada, Millennials make up a third of owners. In Mexico, urbanization and rising incomes among young people are boosting ownership. These demographics favor tech-based and premium pet products, including natural food and smart gadgets.

Regional Differences and Trends

Trends vary by region. Cities like New York, Seattle, and Toronto lead in specialized services and luxury pet products. In Mexico, Mexico City and Monterrey show the highest growth. Demand for eco-friendly and organic products is rising across all three countries, as is interest in innovative solutions such as insect-based proteins and wearables.

Economic Impact

The pet industry is a major economic driver. In the U.S., it generated $303 billion in 2023, supporting 2.78 million jobs. Canada’s pet food exports to the U.S. reached $1.2 billion. In Mexico, the grooming segment alone is expected to reach $620 million by 2033.

What Lies Ahead?

While inflation remains a concern, innovation, digital adoption, and growing awareness of animal welfare are keeping the market healthy. Pet insurance now covers over 6 million animals in North America, and e-commerce is booming, with online sales in the U.S. surpassing $28.5 billion in 2024.

Conclusion

North America’s pet economy is more than just numbers—it’s a reflection of the deep emotional bond between people and their animals. With projected spending of $165.6 billion by 2025, the industry continues to grow stronger, driven by love, loyalty, and the pursuit of a better life for our furry companions. From premium kibble to telemedicine, the market isn’t just thriving—it’s evolving into one of the most meaningful sectors of the modern economy.

🐾 The Top Three Cat Breeds Dominating 2025: Beauty, Personality, and Popularity

By LYPmagazine Editorial Team | August 28, 2025

In the evolving world of pet companionship, cats have claimed their crown. With their elegance, independence, and emotional depth, they’ve become essential members of modern households. In 2025, three feline champions are taking the spotlight worldwide: the majestic Maine Coon, the agile and charming Abyssinian, and the wild-at-heart Bengal.

According to the Cat Fanciers’ Association (CFA), The International Cat Association (TICA), and polls by YouGov, these three breeds stand out not only for their striking appearance but also for their versatile temperaments and adaptability to different lifestyles. Let’s explore what makes each of these cats the undisputed favorites of the year.

🐱 Maine Coon: The Gentle Giant of North America

Nicknamed the “gentle giant,” the Maine Coon is one of the largest and most beloved cat breeds in the world. Native to the chilly state of Maine, this breed’s origins are wrapped in mystery, possibly descending from Norwegian Forest Cats that adapted to harsh American winters.

Males often weigh over 17 pounds, with muscular bodies, thick tails, and tufted ears. Their coats are water-resistant and vary from solid colors like white or black to stunning tabby patterns in silver or brown.

Despite their size, Maine Coons are affectionate, loyal, and playful. They enjoy human company, follow their owners around the house, and coexist peacefully with kids and other pets. They require regular brushing, a protein-rich diet, and moderate exercise to stay healthy. Common health concerns include hip dysplasia and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Their life expectancy ranges from 12 to 15 years.

🐾 Abyssinian: Ancient Elegance and Endless Curiosity

The Abyssinian is one of the oldest recognized cat breeds, often associated with ancient Egypt. Sleek, agile, and incredibly inquisitive, this cat is the embodiment of feline energy and grace.

Weighing between 6 and 11 pounds, the Aby sports a short, ticked coat that gleams with alternating bands of color—typically ruddy, cinnamon, blue, or fawn. Their almond-shaped eyes and lean physique give them a regal, alert appearance.

These cats are brilliant, playful, and emotionally attuned to their environment. They thrive in stimulating households where climbing towers and puzzle toys abound. Their coat requires minimal grooming, but their mind demands constant activity. Health-wise, Abyssinians may be prone to hereditary conditions like pyruvate kinase deficiency and retinal atrophy. They typically live 12–15 years with proper care.

🐆 Bengal: A Touch of the Wild at Home

The Bengal cat brings the jungle to your living room. Developed in the 1970s by crossing domestic cats with the Asian leopard cat, Bengals have retained an exotic appearance and a boundless energy that sets them apart.

Athletic and muscular, Bengals weigh between 9 and 15 pounds and have a dense, shimmering coat featuring spots, rosettes, or marbled patterns in brown, silver, or snow. The glittery shine of their fur adds to their wild aesthetic.

Known for their confidence and high energy, Bengals are vocal, intelligent, and affectionate with engaged owners. They love water and need vigorous playtime, puzzle feeders, and interactive attention. Though low-maintenance in grooming, their physical and mental health depends on stimulation and a high-protein diet. They can live 12–16 years but should be monitored for heart disease and eye conditions.

🌟 Why These Breeds Reign in 2025

The popularity of the Maine Coon, Abyssinian, and Bengal in 2025 reflects more than trends—it represents a deeper bond between humans and their feline companions. Social media has amplified their charm, but it’s their compatibility with modern life that keeps them in high demand.

These cats combine stunning aesthetics with distinctive personalities: the Maine Coon offers family-friendly affection, the Abyssinian brings intelligent playfulness, and the Bengal adds a spark of the wild. However, responsible ownership remains vital. Experts urge prospective pet parents to research ethical breeders or consider breed-specific rescues.

Choosing a breed is choosing a lifestyle. And in a world that increasingly values emotional connection and individuality, these feline champions embody the best of both.

In 2025, cats don’t just purr — they lead.

The Latino community in North America is reshaping the travel industry. With Latino travelers in the U.S. expected to increase trips by 10% in 2025 and inject over $165 billion into the tourism economy, their influence is undeniable. In Canada, where Latinos make up only 1–3% of the population—primarily in cities like Toronto and Montreal—their travel patterns are gaining visibility and traction.

Driven by family ties (61% travel to reunite with loved ones), popular culture, and social media, Latinos seek immersive, meaningful travel. Beyond traditional favorites like Las Vegas or Cancún, these five emerging destinations stand out for their authenticity, accessibility, and cultural richness.

1. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (USA)

With 60 miles of golden beaches, golf courses, and amusement parks, Myrtle Beach is becoming a go-to family vacation spot. Its affordability and proximity to Latino communities on the U.S. East Coast have sparked a steady rise in interest. Spanish-speaking Airbnb users increasingly book here, making it a coastal gem to watch.

2. Florianópolis, Brazil

Nicknamed “Floripa,” this island paradise in southern Brazil blends breathtaking beaches and lagoons with vibrant Portuguese and South American culture. 3. Sabaneta, Colombia

This lively suburb of Medellín has become a cultural hotspot. With its celebrated paisa cuisine (think bandeja paisa), traditional festivals, and lush Andean landscapes, Sabaneta saw a notable uptick in family and cultural tourism in 2023. Improved safety and infrastructure continue to boost its appeal for 2025.

4. San Salvador, El Salvador

The Salvadoran capital is emerging as a top destination for Latinos wanting to reconnect with Central American roots. Surrounded by volcanoes and home to culinary icons like pupusas, San Salvador experienced a surge in bookings in 2023, particularly from Salvadoran communities in Los Angeles. Eco-tourism and better air connectivity make it one to watch.

Austin, the tech-savvy capital of Texas, is thriving with music, innovation, and strong Latino cultural roots. With a growing number of searches in 2023, the city appeals to 53% of Latino travelers influenced by social media trends. Between SXSW, Tex-Mex cuisine, and career opportunities, Austin is primed for continued growth in 2025.

Latinos on the Move

Latinos travel to Latin America 38% more than other demographic groups and spend more per trip. As their influence grows, the travel industry must prioritize representation and tailored messaging. From vibrant beach towns to cultural urban hubs, these emerging destinations are redrawing the map of travel in North America—through the lens of culture, family, and belonging.

💠 Love and Productivity: The Path to Wholeness

By: M-Rey | Founder of Teocalli Infinito and the Tribe of Jade

Column: Tlatoani in Yólotl – Voice and Heart of Totality

🌎 The Emptiness of Soulless Productivity

In today’s world, one of humanity’s greatest afflictions is the absence of purpose. When life lacks direction or meaning, productivity becomes hollow. We may fill bank accounts, but never hearts. A life without inner fulfillment is only half-lived.

That is why we must reclaim the ancient link between love and productivity.

🧘 The Joy of Presence, the Power of Purpose

Meditation has long been recognized as a gateway to joy and clarity. Matthieu Ricard, often called “the happiest man in the world,” reminds us that mindful awareness and sustained compassion generate inner fulfillment beyond any external achievement.

But how do we bring that inner happiness into leadership, creation, and daily living?

Great teachers offer us clues. Oprah Winfrey taught that leadership is not domination, but service. NBA legend Phil Jackson used Zen meditation to transform his teams into dynasties. Tina Turner brought mantra chanting to millions, blending spirituality with creative excellence.

These pioneers opened doors. But at Teocalli Infinito, we step even further.

🔥 Ritual Meditation and the Rise of Conscious Leadership

Our practice of Ritual Shamanic Meditation doesn’t just calm the mind—it awakens vital energy, revives ancestral memory, and transforms that into creative action. This is what we call Quantum Transformation: when spirit becomes concrete, when love becomes action, and when vision becomes sustainable productivity.

In this view, the true leader is one who creates communities rooted in love, expanding consciousness through collective power.

💫 Sacred Sexuality: Reclaiming the Source of Creation

For centuries, humanity has been controlled through the repression of joy, pleasure, and the sacred body. But sexual energy is the evolutionary spark of our species.

Conscious, ritualistic, and meditative erotic union expands awareness beyond the ego. As teacher Kali writes: sexuality is not a taboo—it’s the key to wholeness. Denying it has been a tool of control. Embracing it is the beginning of liberation.

👑 Tlatoani in Yólotl: Voices of the Heart

It is with pride that I present this new column, where three of my most advanced students — Kali, Lilith, and Nieth — share a vision of wholeness rooted in love, power, and wisdom.

They are living proof that meditation doesn’t just free the mind — it creates a fertile life of sacred productivity.

🌺 From Disciple to Voice of a Lineage

Each of these women represents a facet of awakened feminine wisdom:

  • Kali honors the body as temple, showing that full sexuality is a path of mental liberation.

  • Lilith embodies wild strength — the fierce voice of the feminine that reclaims power through fire and shadow.

  • Nieth, sharp and luminous, builds bridges between thought and experience, reminding us that conscious business leadership leaves echoes of good in the world.

Their teachings are not theoretical—they are medicine for the community, born from ritual and path.

🌀 The Rituals: Tools for Conscious Productivity

🔥 1. Ritual of the Ignited Purpose

(Xiuhtli in Yólotl)

Objective: Transform confusion into clarity, and tiredness into vitality.

Action: Sit before a red or golden candle. Write down your purpose. Breathe deeply 9 times. Visualize your heart becoming a sun.

Mantra: “Nochipa, nimitstlatlauh” (Forever, I honor you).

Coaching Insight: Productivity doesn’t come from mechanical effort—it flows from passionate purpose.

🌊 2. Ritual of Loving Fusion

(Atl in Tlazohteotl)

Objective: Build creative relationships based on shared abundance.

Action: Facing a loved one (or your reflection), each pour water into a shared vessel. Say: “My abundance is shared, my love multiplies.”

Drink the water as a symbolic fusion of energy.

Insight: Productivity thrives not in isolation, but in collaboration.

🌌 3. Ritual of Sacred Sexuality & Quantum Creation

(Ometeotl)

Objective: Liberate the creative sexual force within.

Action: Alone or with a partner, sit upright. Place hands on lower belly. Inhale from pelvis to crown; exhale like golden rain. Repeat 21 times.

Mantra: “Ometeotl” (Sacred duality in unity).

Insight: What the world has repressed, we liberate. Sacred sexuality is a source of divine productivity.

🌱 The Community as an Eternal Seed

These rituals are not isolated practices. They are seeds of consciousness, rooted in the Tribe of Jade and Teocalli Infinito.

Every act of love, every ignited purpose, every sacred union is a contribution to a global transformation.

When you meditate, love, and act from the spirit, your work transcends time. Your actions become offerings, nourishing the collective soul.

✨ Final Words from the Path

I’ve walked this road a long time. From the first Gom UNIDAD Consciente videos — back when I still had hair and credentials on display — to this new chapter, I’ve shed titles and embraced legacy.

Today, I speak not as a name, but as a guide. I see in my students the triumph of community over ego.

They remind me, and now I remind you:

💬 Productivity without love is slavery. Love without action is illusion. Only when consciousness is ignited, purpose defined, and vital energy flowing, do we truly thrive.

That is the path.

That is the legacy.
